Zhen Gao, Professor on marine structure, NTNU

 

 

Prof. Zhen Gao obtained his PhD degree at NTNU in 2008 and then he worked as a post-doc and a researcher at CeSOS, NTNU from 2008 to 2015. From July 2015, he is a professor of marine structures at the Department of Marine Technology and his professorship is financed by DNV GL. His current main research work are related to offshore renewable energy, with focus on design, modelling and analysis of bottom-fixed and floating wind turbines, marine operations related to installation and maintenance of offshore wind turbines. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. He has co-supervised 5 PhDs and is currently co-supervising 10 PhD candidates at NTNU. He participated in serval EU projects (including SEEWEC, MARINA Platform, MareWint) and in one national research center on offshore wind (NOWITECH). He is the chair of the Specialist Committee V.4 Offshore Renewable Energy in ISSC for 2012-2015 and 2015-2018. He is a member of the editorial board for three international journals and a member of the technical committee for three international conferences.
